Rising opportunity: After three years of producing some sumptuous bread and pastries, Guglhupf Bakery wants to add Cafe to its name.

The owners of the shop, Harmut Jahn and Claudia Cooper, want to add a 1,610-square-foot addition to the rear of the building for restrooms and a cafe area with tables. The bakery is located at 2706 Chapel Hill Blvd.

The effort is contingent on a rezoning request that's slated to go before the zoning committee in September.

But you don't have to wait for the cafe to get some Guglhupf sandwiches - the business has started selling them already, including vegetarian and turkey breast treats. The cost: $5.
